In his book, Luca Turin says that the bottle of Gres’ Cabaret (2002) is “fugly”. I’ve never looked at a bowling pin and think that it’s ugly… in fact the bottle looks quite charming to me. But he likes the perfume itself, which “makes him smile” and gives it a 4/5 star rating. To me it’s a rather simple and straight forward light incense rose perfume. When the champagne-like top notes fizzle out, under that cabaret dress is a small bush of patchouli and some sandalwood.

Got this brand-new 100ml bottle for $40.
